By placing an order or commission with East City Smithy, you agree to these Terms of Sale. Please read them before purchasing. If you have any questions, contact us before placing your order.
All products sold by East City Smithy are hand-forged, one-of-a-kind items made by a single craftsman in Ontario, Canada. Because each piece is made by hand:
All prices are listed in Canadian dollars (CAD).
East City Smithy is a small supplier as defined by the Excise Tax Act (Canada). If our annual taxable revenue remains below $30,000 CAD, we are not required to register for or collect HST/GST, and taxes will not be added to your order. If we become required to collect HST in the future, this policy will be updated and HST will be shown clearly at checkout before payment is taken.
International customers (outside Canada) are responsible for any import duties, customs fees, or local taxes that may apply in their jurisdiction.
Orders are processed through Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Payment is taken in full at the time of purchase.
An order confirmation is sent to the email address you provide at checkout. Your order is confirmed when payment is successfully processed and you receive this confirmation.
We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order at our discretion, including if an item was listed in error. In that event, a full refund will be issued immediately.
Commission inquiries submitted through our contact form are not binding orders. A commission becomes a confirmed order only when we have agreed on specifications, price, and timeline in writing, and a deposit (typically 50%) has been received.
Every piece we sell comes with a lifetime craftsmanship guarantee. If a blade delaminates, a handle fails, or a weld cracks under normal use, we will repair or replace it at no charge. This guarantee covers defects in materials and workmanship — not normal wear, sharpening, or damage from misuse.
Under Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002, you have the right to cancel an internet agreement within 7 days of receiving the product, unless the product is a custom or made-to-order item made to your specifications. Our return policy is as follows:
To initiate a return or warranty claim, email mjaredlucas@gmail.com with your order details and a description of the issue.
Important: You are responsible for understanding and complying with all laws in your jurisdiction regarding the purchase, possession, carrying, and use of blades and other edged tools. Laws vary by province, state, and country. By purchasing from us, you confirm you are legally permitted to purchase and possess the item in your jurisdiction.
Our blades are designed for lawful purposes including hunting, kitchen use, collecting, and everyday tasks. They must be stored safely, out of reach of children. We accept no liability for injury or damage resulting from unsafe handling, storage, or unlawful use.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, East City Smithy's liability for any claim arising from a purchase is limited to the purchase price of the item in question. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 (Ontario) or other mandatory consumer protection legislation.
